Sheridan Maine are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to oversee and lead a high-performing finance team across two locations. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring timely and accurate statutory reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, supporting business decision-making, and driving efficiency in finance operations. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone with strong technical skills and a collaborative mindset.
The role offers a hybrid working pattern: three days in our client’s West London office and two from home.

As Financial Controller, your key responsibilities will include:
- Line manage the Management Accountant and Finance Operations Manager.
- Oversee the work of Accounts Payable and Receivable teams.
- Drive accountability and development within the finance function.
- Close monthly accounts by working day 6.
- Lead the year-end audit process.
- Ensure accurate and timely VAT returns and compliance with HMRC regulations.
- Liaise with external tax consultants to support corporation tax submissions.
- Authorise and release vendor payments.
- Manage monthly payroll processing.
- Ensure effective credit control and accounts receivable management in collaboration with the Finance Operations Manager.
- Oversee accounts payable and drive operational efficiency.
- Identify and implement process improvements in financial reporting, systems, and internal controls.
- Support non-financial managers to improve financial awareness across departments.
- Translate financial data into actionable insights for leadership and operational teams.
- Contribute to long-term financial planning and budgeting.
- Maintain and enhance financial models used in strategic decision-making.
Core Requirements:
- Extensive experience in Finance, including at least 2 years as a proven Management Accountant.
- Fully qualified (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) with a relevant degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics.
- Strong accounting software knowledge (e.g. QuickBooks, AQA).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel if required.
Key technical skills for the Financial Controller:
- Management accounting for multiple projects/events.
- Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
- VAT and payroll management.
- Audit preparation and statutory submissions.
