Financial Accountant

Sheridan Maine is delighted to be partnering with an esteemed organisation to recruit an experienced Financial Accountant on a temporary day-rate basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled accountant to join a fast-paced, dynamic finance team and provide accurate financial reporting and insight to support key business decisions.

The successful Financial Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing statutory and management accounts, and supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes. With a focus on compliance and financial control, the Financial Accountant will play a pivotal role in ensuring reliable financial insight across the business.

Key Responsibilities of the Financial Accountant:

• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including variance analysis.
• Post journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and general ledger adjustments.
• Maintain and reconcile key accounts within the general ledger.
• Assist with statutory accounts preparation and regulatory filings.
• Support timely month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and assist with audits.
• Ensure compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS and company policies.
• Maintain internal controls and identify process improvements.
• Support ad hoc financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting requests.

The successful Financial Accountant:

• Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or part-qualified with strong experience.
• Proven experience in financial accounting, month-end close, and statutory reporting.
• Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, SAP) and MS Excel.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
