Sheridan Maine is advertising on behalf of a growing accountancy practice to recruit an ambitious Tax Senior. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior tax professional to join a supportive, values-led team, assisting the Partners in the delivery of corporate, personal tax, and payroll services while enjoying strong prospects for career progression.

The role will primarily focus on oversight of the tax compliance function, reviewing the work of junior team members, and leading tax assignments, while still offering hands-on exposure to compliance and payroll processing.

Key responsibilities of the Tax Senior include:
  • Overseeing all tax compliance work for the practice.
  • Preparing and reviewing:
    • Corporation tax returns and business tax computations with supporting analysis
    • Personal tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and trusts
    • Payroll calculations and associated reporting
  • Leading and assisting on tax assignments and client engagements.
  • Supervising, delegating, and reviewing the work of junior staff.
  • Delivering timely and clear communication with clients.
  • Assisting Managers and Partners with ad-hoc project work.
The successful Tax Senior will have:
  • CTA qualified or part-qualified (or equivalent experience) with at least 3 years’ practice experience at a senior level.
  • Strong technical knowledge of corporation tax, income tax, capital gains tax, and payroll.
  • Proven experience in leading tax compliance work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to build client relationships.
  • Experience using bookkeeping software including Sage, QuickBooks, or Xero; experience with CCH, BrightPay, or MyWorkPapers is desirable but not essential.
