Sheridan Maine is advertising on behalf of a respected and growing accountancy practice to recruit a Private Client Tax Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for a tax professional to take on a pivotal role within a supportive and collaborative environment, delivering high-quality tax compliance and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients, including trusts and high-net-worth individuals.
 
This hybrid role offers the flexibility to combine office-based and remote working, while providing the chance to make a tangible impact on client service and professional growth.
 
Key responsibilities of the Private Client Tax Manager include:
  • Managing a portfolio of cases, including trusts and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Drafting reports and letters providing tax advice, including inheritance tax planning, residence, and domicile.
  • Meeting with clients to assess and advise on their tax planning needs.
  • Undertaking capital gains tax (CGT) advice on property, shares, and other assets for both UK-resident and non-UK-resident individuals.
  • Reviewing the work of more junior staff and supporting their professional development.
  • Providing and managing compliance services, including preparing and reviewing self-assessment tax returns and computations.
  • Actively promoting other departments within the practice, particularly financial planning services.
  • Requesting, collating, and maintaining client information.
  • Corresponding with and confidently managing client enquiries.
  • Maintaining direct contact with clients, HMRC, solicitors, and other professional services firms to deliver excellent client service.
 
The successful Private Client Tax Manager will have:
  • Previous experience in tax compliance and advisory, including drafting reports.
  • ATT or CTA qualified (or equivalent) with up-to-date technical knowledge.
  • A sound understanding of compliance standards imposed by regulatory authorities for tax.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan time efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Professionalism and discretion, with the ability to build rapport quickly with clients.
